"In 2012, my husband and I just finished our degrees and it was actually kind of ironic because the exact same day I finally heard back about getting approved to do my masters at the University of Victoria. He got a call back from Suncor about a job offer. He had been applying through his entire program for 5 years at Suncor so when he finally got that offer on the exact day I got mine we kind of had to make a decision.

It's kind of funny people always say you either come to Fort McMurray for love or for money. In this case, I love my husband...so I decided to put my masters on hold and move for love and money.

​We accepted the offer from Suncor then we moved up here pretty shortly after. When people ask that question, why did your move here, was it for love or for money? I think those two things are often what people move here for, but is not necessarily what ends up keeping them here"
