“I am originally from Fort McMurray. One of the things that I remember growing up here in the city is there use to be an old arena called Townsite Arena which used to be just on the other side of Keyano. I remember playing hockey there and spending a lot of time at the arena being a rink rat. It's pretty amazing to think its just a parking lot now but it's nice to see the growth in the community. It's nice to see places like Mac Island, Fort McKay Rink and Anzac Rink.
I went to Dr. Clark, Good Shepherd, and West View school. I left for some years to play high school hockey in Ontario and came back right after high school and completed my welding apprenticeship. I moved into a supervisory position with Suncor and now I have my own business, I am now a financial advisor.
It's been pretty neat to see how this community has evolved over the years. There are so many amazing people in the community. If you go looking for it, there is so much to do in Fort McMurray.”
